Description

A flavor-packed Korean BBQ classic that’s easy to prepare in an air fryer. Sweet and savory marinated chicken thighs make for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 Korean pear (or apple/pear juice substitute)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (optional for spice)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by blending the Korean pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, avocado oil, and gochujang together until smooth.
  2. Coat the chicken thighs thoroughly in the marinade. Place the chicken in a glass container or zip-top bag and let it rest for at least one hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 385°F.
  4. Arrange the marinated chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  5. Cook for 25 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
  6. To add a finishing touch, sear the chicken in a hot skillet until golden brown on the outside. Finish cooking using extra marinade for added flavor, cooking on low heat for about 8 minutes per side until fully cooked.
  7. Plate the chicken, garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For deeper flavor, consider marinating overnight. Ensure your air fryer is preheated for a nice sear.
