Juicy and golden-brown whole chicken cooked effortlessly in an air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1 (3-5 pound) whole chicken – giblets removed
- 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees F.
- Remove the chicken from the packaging and ensure no giblets remain in the cavity.
- Dry the chicken thoroughly using a clean kitchen towel.
- Rub or brush the oil uniformly over both sides of the chicken.
- In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper.
- Apply the seasoning mixture generously all over the chicken.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Carefully place the seasoned chicken, breast-side down, into the air fryer basket.
- Cook the chicken for 50 minutes, then flip it over and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
- Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 160 degrees F for safety. Remember, the chicken will continue cooking and should reach 165 degrees F as it rests.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before carving and serving.
Notes
Consider brining the chicken before cooking for maximum moisture and flavor. Pair with roasted vegetables or a light salad for a balanced meal.
