Description

Juicy and golden-brown whole chicken cooked effortlessly in an air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 (3-5 pound) whole chicken – giblets removed
  • 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees F.
  2. Remove the chicken from the packaging and ensure no giblets remain in the cavity.
  3. Dry the chicken thoroughly using a clean kitchen towel.
  4. Rub or brush the oil uniformly over both sides of the chicken.
  5. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  6. Apply the seasoning mixture generously all over the chicken.
  7. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  8. Carefully place the seasoned chicken, breast-side down, into the air fryer basket.
  9. Cook the chicken for 50 minutes, then flip it over and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  10. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 160 degrees F for safety. Remember, the chicken will continue cooking and should reach 165 degrees F as it rests.
  11. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before carving and serving.

Notes

Consider brining the chicken before cooking for maximum moisture and flavor. Pair with roasted vegetables or a light salad for a balanced meal.
