A flavorful and nostalgic dish featuring chicken marinated in a savory-sweet soy sauce based sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 pieces of chicken thighs or drumsticks
- 1/2 cup shoyu (soy sauce)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mix together the shoyu, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Prepare the chicken by placing it in a zip-top bag or shallow dish, then pour the marinade over the chicken.
- Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the marinated chicken to a baking dish and pour the leftover marinade on top.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
Try to marinate overnight for richer flavor. Basting halfway through cooking can enhance moisture and flavor.
