Ingredients
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into 4 fillets)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or Italian-style)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing the baking sheet)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or olive oil.
- Cut chicken breasts into four fillets and season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the last with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and Italian seasoning.
- Dredge each chicken fillet in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Place the breaded chicken on the baking sheet and brush with olive oil.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Pour marinara sauce over the chicken and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
