Description

Discover the secret to making irresistibly crispy Baked Honey Sesame Chicken with a perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors. Perfect for a quick, delicious meal!

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cornstarch
  • 3 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) canola oil
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) honey
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) s sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) s minced garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) s cornstarch
  • Additional sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Cut the chicken breasts into small, bite-sized chunks and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare two separate bowls: one with cornstarch and another with lightly whisked eggs. First, coat the chicken in cornstarch, then dip it in the egg mixture, and once again in the cornstarch. Alternatively, you can place the chicken pieces in a large resealable plastic bag and shake them to coat evenly.
  3. Warm up the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the chicken pieces. Transfer them to a greased 9 x 13 baking dish.
  4. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and an extra tablespoon of cornstarch. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the baking dish and bake for about 45 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.
  5. During baking, stir the chicken every 15 minutes to ensure it is well-coated with the sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure chicken is evenly coated with cornstarch and shake off excess before egg dipnThoroughly mix sauce to dissolve cornstarch and achieve a smooth consistencynTaste and adjust salt after soy sauce, considering its inherent saltiness
