Description
A delicious blend of savory shredded roasted chicken, tangy BBQ sauce, and gooey Havarti cheese, all grilled between slices of crispy sourdough bread.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 ½ cups shredded roasted chicken
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 12 slices Havarti cheese
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons parsley, minced
- 12 slices sourdough bread (or sturdy white bread)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced red onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Combine shredded chicken, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and BBQ sauce with the sautéed onions and garlic; mix well.
- In another skillet, melt butter and add minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Brush both sides of each slice of sourdough bread with the garlic butter mixture.
- Layer the BBQ chicken mixture on a slice of bread, followed by 2 slices of Havarti cheese, and top with another slice of bread.
- Grill the sandwich on medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Repeat for the remaining sandwiches.
Notes
For added taste, consider adding jalapeños or avocado slices. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
