Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar (brown sugar works great)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil

- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Combine soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl to form the teriyaki marinade.
- Place chicken thighs in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.
- Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours to enhance flavor.
- Preheat your skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
- Remove chicken from the marinade, reserving the liquid for later use.
- Cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side until cooked through and golden brown.
- Meanwhile, bring the reserved marinade to a boil in a saucepan, then reduce heat to simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- Drizzle this sauce over the cooked chicken and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
For a bolder flavor, add mirin or Sriracha. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to four days.
