A heartwarming casserole blending tender chicken and bright broccoli, wrapped in a creamy, cheesy sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a greased baking dish.
- Create the creamy sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, sour cream, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Spread the cooked chicken evenly in the baking dish.
- Layer the blanched broccoli on top of the chicken.
- Pour the creamy sauce over the broccoli evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top followed by the breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the sauce bubbles and the topping is golden brown.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, season each layer of the casserole. Experiment with different cheese blends or add cooked rice for heartiness.
