Description

Savor the perfect blend of sweet caramelized onions and spicy chili oil in this easy pasta recipe. Discover step-by-step guidance for a flavorful culinary adventure!

Ingredients

  • 2 servings spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) chilli oil
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cream
  • 1 large red onion
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste (~1-2 tsp (8 ml))
  • Optional ly cheese and chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Begin by slicing the red onion into thin pieces.
  2. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add 2 teaspoons of salt, and then put in the spaghetti. Cook following the directions on the package.
  3. In a different skillet, pour in olive oil and warm it over medium heat for several minutes until it’s hot but not smoking. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized, which should take about 6 to 7 minutes.
  4. After the onions are caramelized, incorporate the chopped garlic, chili oil, and cream into the mixture.
  5. Stir in the Italian seasoning and salt to your preference, and if desired, sprinkle with parmesan and chopped parsley.
  6. Finally, blend everything together and savor your meal!

Notes

  • Gently caramelize onions over medium heat to draw out sweetness while avoiding burning
  • Add garlic after onions are caramelized to prevent bitterness
  • Mix cream with chili oil while stirring continuously for a smooth, silky sauce
