Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) boneless chicken breast
  • 1/2 pound (227 g) (225 grams) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh ginger
  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 milliliters) chicken broth
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions


Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken breast into thin strips.
  2. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
  3. Grate the ginger.
  4. Shred the cabbage.
  5. Peel and julienne the carrot.
  6. Slice the red bell pepper into thin strips.
  7. Slice the green onions.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the chicken broth and cornstarch until smooth.
  9. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  10. Add the ground beef or lamb and cook until browned.
  11. Remove the ground meat from the pan and set aside.
  12. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  13. Add the chicken strips and cook until browned and cooked through.
  14. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  15. In the same pan, add the onion, garlic, and ginger.
  16. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
  17. Add the cabbage, carrot, and red bell pepper to the pan.
  18. Stir-fry the vegetables until they are tender.
  19. Return the ground meat and chicken to the pan.
  20. Add the soy sauce and oyster sauce.
  21. Pour in the cornstarch and chicken broth mixture.
  22. Stir everything well and cook until the sauce thickens.
  23. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  24. Garnish with sliced green onions.
  25. Serve hot.
