Description

A comforting Chicken Parmesan Casserole made with shredded chicken, marinara sauce, and melty cheese, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the shredded chicken, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir.
  4. Cook for about 5 minutes until everything is warmed through.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, half of the Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a mixing bowl.
  6. Mix until well integrated, then add the seasoned chicken.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using a high-quality marinara sauce or homemade sauce. You can also experiment with different pasta shapes.
