A comforting casserole combining tender chicken, fresh spinach, and a creamy cheese sauce, topped with gooey mozzarella and Parmesan.
Ingredients
- 2-3 cups cooked and shredded chicken
- 4 cups fresh spinach (or 1 package frozen spinach, thawed and drained)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
- Add in the minced garlic, finely chopped onion, salt, black pepper, and optional nutmeg. Stir until combined.
- Layer the cooked and shredded chicken and sautéed spinach in a greased casserole dish.
- Pour the creamy sauce over the top, gently mixing to combine.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, incorporate sliced mushrooms or artichoke hearts. Freshly sautéed spinach enhances the dish’s taste.
