Description

A rich and creamy butter chicken recipe that captures the warmth and flavors of Indian cuisine, perfect for family gatherings and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken pieces, mix well, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent. Then add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes and cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat and add heavy cream, stirring to combine. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan.

Notes

For best results, use fresh spices and marinate the chicken overnight for maximum flavor. Adjust cream for desired sauce thickness.
