A healthier take on the classic Chicken Parmesan, prepared in the air fryer for a crispy finish without the guilt of frying.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture, coating it evenly on both sides.
- Lightly spray both sides of the coated chicken breasts with olive oil spray.
- Place the chicken in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not crowding each other. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Once the chicken reaches a crispy texture, top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
For a crunchier texture, try using panko breadcrumbs. Marinating the chicken in olive oil and lemon juice adds extra flavor.
