A delicious crispy chicken Caesar sandwich featuring flavorful chicken, creamy homemade dressing, and fresh romaine in a warm baguette.

Ingredients

  • For the Caesar dressing:
    • ½ cup full-fat mayonnaise
    • 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
    • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
    • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
    • 1-2 garlic cloves (minced)
    • ¼ tsp black pepper
    • Pinch sea salt
  • For the chicken:
    • 5 chicken cutlets
    • Sea salt (to taste)
    • Ground black pepper (to taste)
    • Oil (for frying)
    • â…“ cup all-purpose flour
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ¾ tsp smoked paprika
    • 2 eggs
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
    • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 tsp dried parsley
    • ½ tsp ground black pepper
    • ½ tsp sea salt
    • ½ tsp dried oregano
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
  • For the sandwich:
    • 2 romaine hearts (chopped)
    • 1-2 French baguettes
    • Extra Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caesar dressing by mixing the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, black pepper, and sea salt in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  2. Reserve 4-5 tablespoons of the dressing and mix it with the chopped romaine lettuce in a medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate both the salad and the remaining dressing separately.
  3. Lay the chicken cutlets on a cutting board and pound them to even out thickness. Season both sides with salt and ground black pepper.
  4. Set up a breading station: combine flour, salt, and smoked paprika in one dish, beat eggs with a touch of salt in another, and combine panko, breadcrumbs, dried parsley, black pepper, sea salt, dried oregano, garlic powder, and grated Parmesan cheese in a third.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, dip into the egg mixture, then press into the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for all cutlets.
  6. Fry the chicken cutlets in the hot oil until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  7. Slice the baguettes and spread a layer of the reserved Caesar dressing inside. Add a crispy chicken cutlet, top with Caesar salad, sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese, close the sandwiches, and serve immediately alongside fries.

Notes

For extra crunch, mix in crushed crackers with the breadcrumbs. Adjust seasoning in the dressing to your taste, and add sliced tomatoes or avocado for variations.
