Description

Crispy fried chicken coated in a luscious honey butter sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings with friends.

Ingredients

  • 750 grams chicken breast, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon MSG (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cornstarch/cornflour
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for sautéing garlic)
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (additional)
  • 4-5 tablespoons butter (additional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1-2 tablespoons cornstarch slurry (mix cornstarch with water)
  • Sesame seeds and spring onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken cubes, soy sauce, salt, white pepper, MSG, garlic powder, onion powder, and egg. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.
  2. Add the cornstarch and baking powder to the bowl. Mix until the chicken is fully coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the chicken in batches for 3-4 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and set aside for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Double fry the chicken for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Notes

Ensure that the oil is at the correct temperature for frying to achieve maximum crispiness. For extra flavor, consider experimenting with spices and adjusting the honey for sweetness.
