Ingredients
- 1 large white onion, chopped
- 120 ml honey (1/2 cup)
- 120 g brown sugar (1/2 cup)
- 60 ml soy sauce (1/4 cup)
- 60 ml vegetable oil (1/4 cup)
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) mustard powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) garlic, minced
- 3 kg chicken wings (5 lbs)
Instructions
- Mix together the chopped onion, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, vegetable oil, mustard powder, and minced garlic in a saucepan over medium heat and cook until warmed through, approximately 5 minutes.
- Place the chicken wings in a single layer in a shallow baking dish, pour the sauce over them, and stir to coat evenly. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or as long as overnight.
- Set your oven to preheat at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In the preheated oven, cook the wings until the meat is no longer pink by the bone and the juices run clear, turning them occasionally for about 90 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the temperature near the bone reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
Notes
- Consider enhancing the flavor by adding a touch of hot sauce or red pepper flakes to the marinade.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for a more visually appealing presentation.
- For a crispier texture, broil the wings briefly after baking until they reach your desired level of crispiness.
