Description

Discover how to make the perfect crispy popcorn chicken at home with our easy-to-follow recipe. Your new favorite snack awaits!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour (720 g)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (10 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (3 g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (1 ml)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (30 ml)
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, or as needed (480 ml)
  • 3 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cubed

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and lemon juice.
  2. Warm up 2 inches of oil in a large pot at medium heat.
  3. Coat the chicken cubes in the flour mixture, shaking off any surplus. Submerge them in the egg mixture, allowing any extra egg to drip back into the bowl. Coat them with the flour mixture once more.
  4. Gently place the chicken pieces into the heated oil in batches, frying until they achieve a golden hue, about 7 to 8 minutes. Move them to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil. Repeat this process with the remaining chicken pieces.

Notes

  • Ensure an even coating of the flour mixture on the chicken cubes for a crispy exterior.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pot while frying to ensure even cooking.
  • Check the oil temperature with a thermometer for optimal frying at around 350°F (180°C).
