A rich and creamy butter chicken made effortlessly in a crockpot, featuring tender chicken thighs and a blend of aromatic spices.


Ingredients

  • Oil or ghee
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 can diced or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup cream
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)


Instructions

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a skillet and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
  2. Add ginger and garlic paste, spices (smoked paprika, cumin, turmeric, and salt), and garam masala, cooking for a few minutes to release flavors.
  3. Combine the sautéed ingredients with diced or crushed tomatoes and chicken thighs in a crockpot.
  4. Cook on low for 360-480 minutes or on high for 180-240 minutes.
  5. Stir in unsalted butter and cream for richness during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  6. Adjust seasoning with sugar, red pepper flakes, and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
