Description
A comforting and flavorful slow-cooked butter chicken made with tender chicken thighs, creamy yogurt, and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs chicken thighs
- 1 cup skyr (or Greek yogurt)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix skyr, garlic, ginger, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs to the bowl and coat them well with the yogurt mixture.
- Place the chopped onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Add the marinated chicken on top.
- Pour the diced tomatoes over the chicken and top with butter.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken in the sauce, stir well, and serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
Notes
Ensure chicken thighs are well coated in the marinade for maximum flavor. Consider adding coconut milk for extra richness.
