Description
A tender and flavorful whole chicken cooked in a slow cooker, infused with garlic, paprika, and lemon.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (about 4-5 pounds)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 lemon (halved)
- Fresh herbs (optional, such as rosemary or thyme)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and rub olive oil all over it.
- Mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika in a bowl and season the chicken inside and out.
- Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the halved lemon and fresh herbs.
- Place the seasoned chicken in the slow cooker, breast side up, and cover.
- Set the slow cooker to cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes before carving.
Notes
For crispier skin, finish the chicken under a broiler for a few minutes after cooking.
