A quick and satisfying recipe for General Tso’s Chicken that can be made in under 30 minutes, featuring a savory sweet and tangy sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the chicken pieces with soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Mix well and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger; sauté briefly until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth, rice vinegar, sugar, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil; stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional few minutes to heat through.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
Adjust the sugar level to your taste and consider adding crushed red pepper flakes for spice.
