Ingredients
- – 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces) (454g)
- – Salt and pepper
- – 1/4 cup flour (60g)
- – 3 1/2 tbsp (50g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
- – 2 garlic cloves, minced
- – 1 1/2 tbsp (23 ml) apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
- – 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce, light or all purpose
- – 1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup) (80ml)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to make four thin pieces. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Put the flour in a shallow bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour, then shake off any extra.
- In a large frying pan, melt most of the butter over high heat, saving about a teaspoon for later use.
- Add the chicken to the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it turns golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for 1 minute.
- Reduce the heat slightly to medium-high.
- Move the chicken to one side of the pan, add the minced garlic, and the reserved butter. Stir the garlic briefly once the butter has melted.
- Pour in the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Mix the contents of the pan by stirring or shaking it, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer for 1 minute or until it thickens a bit.
- Coat the chicken with the sauce by turning it. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of water and mix.
- Take the pan off the heat immediately. Serve the chicken on plates and pour the remaining sauce over the top.
