Description

A comforting and delicious Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skillet with a creamy sauce that envelops tender chicken pieces and rich Italian flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch thick pieces
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for serving)
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herb blend (oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, marjoram)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Place the chicken pieces in a single layer, searing for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and cover loosely to keep warm.
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet.
  5. Sauté the minced garlic for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and dried Italian herbs. Cook until smooth.
  8. Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet, tossing gently to coat in the sauce.
  9. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For best results, use fresh garlic and high-quality Parmesan cheese. Serve over rice or pasta, and store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
