Description
A nostalgic and indulgent sandwich featuring juicy grilled chicken, layers of ham, and Swiss cheese, enhanced with a tangy mayo-Dijon spread.
Ingredients
- 1 boneless and skinless chicken breast
- 2 slices of ham
- 2 slices of Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 sandwich bun, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Lay the chicken breast on a clean surface and gently pound it to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
- Season both sides of the chicken breast with garlic powder and black pepper.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In a second shallow bowl, beat the egg until smooth.
- In a third shallow bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
- Dredge the chicken breast in the flour, making sure it’s evenly coated on both sides.
- Dip the floured chicken into the egg, letting any excess drip off.
- Coat the egg-covered chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even layer.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil and butter are hot, carefully add the chicken to the skillet.
- Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
- While the chicken cooks, slice the sandwich bun and toast it lightly until golden brown.
- When the chicken is nearly done, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the chicken breast and add a slice of ham on top of the cheese.
- Cover the skillet for a minute to melt the cheese.
- Mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl.
- Spread the mayo-mustard mixture on the bottom half of the toasted bun.
- Place the grilled chicken breast with melted cheese and ham on top of the mayo-mustard coated bun.
- Top with the other half of the toasted bun to complete the sandwich.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Consider marinating the chicken for extra flavor. Using fresh breadcrumbs can enhance the crunchiness.
