Ingredients
- 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces)
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) flour
- 3 1/2 tbsp (50 g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 1/2 tbsp (23 ml) apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce, light or all purpose
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) honey (or maple syrup)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to obtain four pieces in total. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Spread flour in a shallow bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour, then gently shake off any surplus.
- In a large frying pan over high heat, melt the majority of the butter, reserving about 1 teaspoon for later use.
- Place the chicken in the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they turn golden brown. Flip them over and cook the opposite side for 1 minute.
- Reduce the heat slightly to medium-high.
- Create a small space in the pan, add minced garlic, and top it with the remaining bit of butter. Stir the garlic briefly once the butter has melted.
- Pour in the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir or shake the pan to mix everything together. Allow the sauce to reach a simmer and continue simmering for 1 minute or until it slightly thickens.
- Rotate the chicken pieces to coat them in the sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little water and mix.
- Remove the pan from the heat immediately. Serve the chicken on plates and drizzle the remaining sauce over the top.
