Ingredients
- 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces)
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) flour
- 3 1/2 tbsp (50 g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 1/2 tbsp (23 ml) apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce, light or all purpose
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) honey (or maple syrup)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts horizontally so you have four pieces in total. Season each piece with salt and pepper.
- Spread flour in a shallow bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour, shaking off any extra.
- In a large pan, heat most of the butter on high, reserving about a teaspoon for later use.
- Place the chicken in the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it turns golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for 1 minute.
- Lower the heat to medium-high.
- Move the chicken slightly to make space, then add the garlic and the reserved butter to the pan. Stir the garlic briefly after the butter melts.
- Pour in the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir or shake the pan to mix the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about a minute until it thickens slightly.
- Turn the chicken pieces in the sauce to coat them. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a small amount of water and stir.
- Take the pan off the heat immediately. Serve the chicken on plates and pour the remaining sauce over the top.
