Description

A vibrant blend of sweet and savory flavors, this honey-garlic chicken and Brussels sprouts skillet transforms ordinary ingredients into a mouthwatering dish that’s easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 cups Brussels sprouts (halved)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by making the honey-garlic sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the halved Brussels sprouts, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for about 5 minutes until they begin to caramelize and turn golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chicken pieces. Season them with salt and pepper, and cook until they are nicely browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Return the Brussels sprouts to the skillet. Pour the honey-garlic sauce over the chicken and Brussels sprouts. Stir to coat evenly and allow everything to simmer together for an additional 3-5 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the chicken in part of the honey-garlic sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. Keep a close eye on the Brussels sprouts to prevent overcooking.
