Description
A vibrant blend of sweet and savory flavors, this honey-garlic chicken and Brussels sprouts skillet transforms ordinary ingredients into a mouthwatering dish that’s easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 cups Brussels sprouts (halved)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Start by making the honey-garlic sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger until well combined. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the halved Brussels sprouts, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for about 5 minutes until they begin to caramelize and turn golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chicken pieces. Season them with salt and pepper, and cook until they are nicely browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Return the Brussels sprouts to the skillet. Pour the honey-garlic sauce over the chicken and Brussels sprouts. Stir to coat evenly and allow everything to simmer together for an additional 3-5 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
- If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the chicken in part of the honey-garlic sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. Keep a close eye on the Brussels sprouts to prevent overcooking.
