Description

A delightful blend of sweet honey and savory garlic, this recipe for honey garlic chicken thighs creates mouthwatering, tender chicken perfect for any dinner table.

Ingredients

  • 8 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 0.33 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • Cooked rice for serving
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken thighs in a bowl. Add the cornflour, salt, and black pepper. Toss well until the chicken is evenly coated.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Once hot, sear the chicken thighs for about 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown on one side. Flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter along with the minced garlic. Stir the mixture until fragrant, which should take about 1 minute.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the honey, chicken stock, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Mix well and then pour this sauce over the chicken in the skillet.
  5. Bring the sauce to a boil and let it simmer for about 5 to 6 minutes, thickening to create a sticky glaze that coats the chicken.
  6. Serve hot over a fluffy bed of rice, garnished with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of chili flakes if desired.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the skillet when searing the chicken for an even golden-brown color. Adjust the sauce’s sweetness or saltiness to your preference.
