Ingredients
- 8 (140 g) boneless chicken thighs
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil, or as needed
- 5 medium onion, finely chopped
- 7 cloves garlic, chopped, or to taste
- 1 cup (240 ml) honey
- 5 cup (120 ml) soy sauce
- 1 pinch onion powder, or to taste
- 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
- 25 cup (60 ml) chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Collect all the necessary items.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the chicken pieces.
- Warm up olive oil in a cast iron skillet using medium-high heat. Place chicken in the skillet and sear one side until browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Turn the chicken and add the chopped onion and garlic; continue cooking until the chicken is nearly done and the onion and garlic are tender, which should take another 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a separate plate.
- Pour honey, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder into the skillet. Stir and scrape the skillet’s bottom with a wooden spoon to combine the onion and garlic with the sauce.
- Place the chicken back into the skillet, cover it, and reduce the heat to medium. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and the juices are clear, around 10 more minutes, turning over once midway through. Ensure an instant-read thermometer shows at least 165°F (74°C) in the center of a thigh.
- Set the chicken on a serving dish and pour the sauce from the skillet over it. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
- Savor the dish!
