Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chicken wings coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 30 chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin
  • 1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup, or agave)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, mix olive oil, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Toss wings until well coated.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Mirin, honey, water, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the chicken wings and mix well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Spread the marinated wings on the baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake the wings for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  8. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add to leftover marinade in a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil. Stir until thickened.
  9. Brush the thickened sauce over the cooked wings.
  10. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the wings before serving.

Notes

Experiment with sweeteners and don’t hesitate to add red pepper flakes for some heat.
