Ingredients
- 454 g chicken breast or chicken thighs
- 45 ml honey
- 45 ml brown mustard (grainy brown mustard)
- 30 ml vegetable oil
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced or grated
- Optional if you like a bit of heat: 1.25 ml cayenne pepper
- Freshly ground salt and black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine honey, brown mustard, vegetable oil, garlic, cayenne pepper, and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the chicken, ensuring it is well coated in the marinade.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Cook the chicken by grilling or baking according to your preference.
- For grilling: Heat the grill to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Once heated, place the chicken on the grill and close the lid to maintain the temperature.
- Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes on one side.
- Afterward, lift the lid and turn the chicken over using tongs, doing this only once to retain moisture and create grill marks.
- Continue grilling for another 6-8 minutes.
- The cooking duration may vary based on the chicken’s size and cut, so verify the internal temperature with a meat thermometer in the thickest part.
- When the temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit, remove the chicken and place it on a clean plate or board.
- Immediately cover with foil to retain the juices, letting it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- For baking: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Arrange the chicken on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-30 minutes or until no longer pink, ensuring the internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of honey to your liking for a sweeter marinade.
- Experiment with different types of mustard to create a unique flavor profile.
- Ensure juicy and flavorful chicken by allowing it to rest after cooking.
