Ingredients

  • – 3-4 chicken breasts – diced
  • – 1/3 cup (80 ml) corn starch
  • – 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • – 2-3 tablespoons (38 ml) sriracha – (depending on how spicy you want it)
  • – 5 tablespoons (75 ml) soy sauce
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) minced garlic
  • – 1/4 cup (60 g) sugar
  • – 2-3 tablespoons (38 ml) honey – (depending on how sweet you want it)
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) corn starch
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) apple juice
  • – optional: crushed red pepper flakes, cooked rice for serving


Instructions

  1. In a saucepan of moderate size, combine water, sriracha, soy sauce, garlic, sugar, and honey, then stir. Heat the mixture until it boils over medium heat.
  2. Blend the corn starch with apple juice until it’s smooth, then add it to the saucepan, stirring until the mixture thickens. Lower the heat to a simmer.
  3. Place the diced chicken and corn starch into a sizable plastic bag. Close the bag and shake it to evenly coat the chicken.
  4. Pour oil into a large frying pan and warm over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned and thoroughly cooked.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken, stirring to ensure an even coating. Optionally, add crushed red pepper flakes before serving the dish over cooked rice.
