Deliciously spicy and sweet chicken wings, perfect for gatherings and game day.
Ingredients
- 800 g (1.8 lbs) chicken wings (with skin, separated into drums and flats)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tbsp cornstarch (cornflour)
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1-2 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika
- Pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 210°C (410°F).
- Thoroughly pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel.
- Toss the wings with the baking powder, cornstarch, garlic powder, ginger powder, onion powder, salt, white pepper, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika. Let them marinate for 20–30 minutes.
- Drizzle with olive oil and mix until evenly coated.
- Arrange the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes per side, totaling 50–60 minutes.
- Prepare the hot honey sauce by melting the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Stir in crushed red pepper and cayenne. Then add honey, sriracha, and sea salt. Simmer briefly, then remove from heat.
- During the last 5 minutes of baking, baste the wings with hot honey sauce and broil them on the top rack.
- Transfer the remaining sauce to a large bowl, add the wings, and toss to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately while hot with the dip of your choice.
Notes
For an extra kick, feel free to adjust the amount of sriracha in your hot honey sauce. Don’t skip the broiling step for enhanced crispiness.
