Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Dip each breast in flour, then egg, followed by breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for about 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer chicken to a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece and top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
