Description

Deliciously marinated kalbi chicken legs cooked in an air fryer, offering a delightful balance of savory and sweet flavors.

Ingredients

  • 6 chicken quarters
  • Kalbi marinade
  • ½ apple
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 2 inches of ginger
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 stalks of green onion
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sweetener (sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the kalbi marinade, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sweetener, and pepper. Grate the ginger and mince the garlic, then add them to the mixture. Lastly, finely chop the green onions and fold them into the marinade.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken quarters in a large resealable bag or bowl. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. For optimal flavor, refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight if time permits.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Air Fry the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Arrange the chicken quarters in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Serve: Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and visual appeal.

Notes

For optimal taste, marinate the chicken for at least one hour or overnight. Reserve leftover marinade for a glaze or dipping sauce.
