Description
A healthy twist on a classic burger featuring ground chicken, fresh spinach, and white cheddar.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground chicken
- 1 cup (30g) fresh spinach, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup (60g) white cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup (30g) breadcrumbs (or almond flour for a low-carb option)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- Whole wheat burger buns or lettuce wraps
- Sliced tomatoes and onions
- Greek yogurt or tzatziki sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well without overmixing.
- Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into round burger patties, about ½ inch thick. Use olive oil to grease your hands if the mixture is sticky.
- Cook the Burgers: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, flipping once, until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Assemble & Serve: Place cooked burgers on toasted buns or lettuce wraps. Add sliced tomatoes, onions, and a dollop of Greek yogurt or tzatziki. Serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, let the chicken mixture sit for about 30 minutes before cooking. Experiment with spices for added Mediterranean flair.
