Description

A comforting casserole featuring ground beef, tender mushrooms, and melty Swiss cheese, perfect for any dining occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 6 oz Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 hamburger buns, torn into pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms release moisture and brown slightly.
  5. Incorporate ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Once meat is browned, stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  7. Mix sour cream into the meat mixture to create a creamy consistency.
  8. Fold in torn hamburger buns.
  9. Transfer everything to a casserole dish and top with shredded Swiss cheese.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a lighter dish, substitute ground beef with lean ground turkey or chicken. For vegetarian options, use plant-based meat alternatives.
