- 1 cup barbecue sauce (240 ml)
- 1 cup (240 ml) frozen mixed vegetables (about 150 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder (5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika (2 grams)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
- 1 cup chicken broth (240 ml)
- 1 cup (240 ml) all-purpose flour (120 grams)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) beef suet, cubed (60 grams)
- 1/4 cup cold water (60 ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt (3 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in shredded chicken and barbecue sauce.
- Add frozen mixed vegetables, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Pour in chicken broth and stir to combine.
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
- Add cubed cold butter to the flour mixture.
- Use a pastry cutter or fingers to blend until crumbly.
- Gradually add cold water, mixing until a dough forms.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to fit the pot.
- Place dough over the chicken mixture in the pot.
- Trim excess dough and press edges to seal.
- Cut slits in the dough for steam to escape.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, until crust is golden.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
