Description
A comforting dish of orecchiette pasta with savory Italian sausage and tender broccoli, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb orecchiette pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
- 16 oz broccoli florets
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups reserved pasta water
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
- Olive oil (for drizzling)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook orecchiette pasta according to package directions, removing from heat two minutes early.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and cook sausage until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
- Add broccoli and minced garlic, cooking until broccoli softens, about 5-6 minutes.
- Drain the pasta, reserving 2 cups of pasta water. Add the pasta to the skillet along with ½ cup of the reserved water.
- Toss to combine, adding more reserved water if necessary to achieve a creamy sauce.
- Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese, a drizzle of olive oil, and season as desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes. This dish can be paired with a salad or garlic bread.
