Description

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these oven-fried chicken wings are a healthier alternative to deep-frying, perfect for gatherings and game day parties.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • ½ cup of buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil or melted butter

Instructions

  1. Combine the buttermilk with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and optional cayenne in a bowl. Whisk until mixed well.
  2. Toss the chicken wings into the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the fridge.
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Let excess marinade drip off the wings, then dredge each wing in the panko mixture, pressing to ensure an even coating.
  5. Arrange wings in a single layer on a baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
  6. Drizzle olive oil or melted butter over the wings.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 40-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Notes

For extra crunch, place wings on a wire rack over the baking sheet. Experiment with different seasonings or marinades for added flavor.
