Description
Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these oven-fried chicken wings are a healthier alternative to deep-frying, perfect for gatherings and game day parties.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- ½ cup of buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Combine the buttermilk with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and optional cayenne in a bowl. Whisk until mixed well.
- Toss the chicken wings into the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the fridge.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Let excess marinade drip off the wings, then dredge each wing in the panko mixture, pressing to ensure an even coating.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on a baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
- Drizzle olive oil or melted butter over the wings.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 40-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Notes
For extra crunch, place wings on a wire rack over the baking sheet. Experiment with different seasonings or marinades for added flavor.
