Description

A delicious buttermilk fried chicken sandwich featuring golden-brown chicken and a kick from spicy mayo, perfect for gatherings and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup corn starch
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp cajun seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken breasts in buttermilk and season with paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, corn starch, and spices for the breading.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet.
  4. Dredge marinated chicken breasts in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  6. For the spicy mayo, mix mayo, hot sauce, paprika, cajun seasoning, and garlic powder together.
  7. Assemble the sandwich by placing the fried chicken on a bun and topping with spicy mayo.

Notes

For optimal frying, maintain the oil temperature at around 350°F to 375°F. Don’t overcrowd the pan and let the fried chicken rest on a wire rack post-frying.
