A comforting and satisfying shredded chicken dish served with rich gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breasts
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: cooked rice or mashed potatoes for serving
Instructions
- In a pot, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the chicken breasts and pour in the chicken broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Remove the chicken and shred it with two forks.
- In the same pot, whisk in flour to create a gravy, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Return the shredded chicken to the pot, mix well, and season with salt and pepper.
- Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
For a richer gravy, allow it to simmer longer after adding flour. Consider seasoning chicken breasts before cooking.
