Description

A comforting and satisfying shredded chicken dish served with rich gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken breasts
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: cooked rice or mashed potatoes for serving


Instructions

  1. In a pot, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  2. Add the chicken breasts and pour in the chicken broth.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken and shred it with two forks.
  5. In the same pot, whisk in flour to create a gravy, stirring constantly until thickened.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the pot, mix well, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a richer gravy, allow it to simmer longer after adding flour. Consider seasoning chicken breasts before cooking.
