Description

Learn how to make irresistible Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings with this easy recipe. Perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, your taste buds will thank you!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (900g) chicken wings, mix of drumettes and wingettes
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground black pepper
  • 1 cup (125g) cornstarch
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 8 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) gochujang
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water
  • fresh parsley and green onions, chopped
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Begin by setting your oven to a temperature of 450°F. Cover a large baking tray with aluminum foil and place a cooling rack on top. Keep it aside. Use paper towels to dry the wings before placing them in a bowl with salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly to ensure the wings are well-coated. Incorporate the cornstarch and continue mixing until the wings are evenly covered.
  2. Spray the cooling rack with nonstick spray and arrange the wings on it. Ensure they are not touching or overlapping, as this aids in faster cooking and enhances browning.
  3. Roast the wings for 40 minutes. Take them out of the oven and flip each one using tongs. Return them to the oven for an additional 10 minutes. Once cooked, remove and leave them to rest.
  4. While the wings are cooking, measure out the vegetable oil and minced garlic, and place them in a large pan. Set the heat to medium. Stir and cook the garlic until it releases its aroma, being careful not to brown it. The goal is to release the oils and enhance the sauce’s flavor. Once the oil is sizzling, stir for only 2 minutes.
  5. Then, incorporate the remaining ingredients and whisk until everything is combined smoothly. Blend everything in the skillet until you have a thick, sticky sauce.
  6. Add the wings and mix thoroughly to coat them. Continue mixing over high heat until the sauce becomes even thicker and the wings are sticky.
  7. Serve on a plate, garnished with parsley and sesame seeds. Enjoy immediately, accompanied by celery and carrot sticks, paired with your favorite vegetable dip.

Notes

  • Thoroughly dry wings before seasoning with salt, pepper, and soy sauce to achieve crispy results.
  • Use tongs when flipping wings to prevent burns from the hot baking tray.
  • Avoid overcooking garlic in sauce to prevent bitterness; stir for only 2 minutes to release aroma.
