- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) white sugar
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 pound (454 g) boneless beef, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) dry roasted peanuts
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Combine the beef broth, soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, and cayenne pepper in a bowl, whisking until the mixture is smooth.
- Warm the oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat; cook the beef and garlic until the beef is cooked through and no longer pink, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Add the red bell pepper and continue to cook until it becomes slightly soft, about 1 minute.
- Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and continue cooking until the sauce becomes thick, around 1 minute. Mix in the peanuts and top with green onions before serving.
Notes
- Use low-sodium soy sauce and reduce sugar for a healthier option.
- Ensure thorough sauce coating for even flavor.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to taste for desired spiciness level.
