Delicious and flavorful turkey burgers with a kick, perfect for summer grilling and family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup sliced avocado
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, finely chopped red onion, and olive oil.
- Add the chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
- Crack the large egg into the mixture, and mix thoroughly using your hands or a spoon.
- Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties.
- Place the patties on the preheated grill or grill pan.
- Cook the patties for approximately 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- While the burgers are grilling, toast the hamburger buns for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
- Once cooked, spread salsa on the bottom half of each bun, top with a turkey patty, sliced avocado, and chopped cilantro, then cap with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
