Description
A comforting and hearty dish featuring jumbo pasta shells filled with a savory meat and cheese mixture, topped with marinara sauce.
Ingredients
- 12 jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set them aside.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat from the pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Fill each cooked shell with the meat and cheese mixture, taking care not to overfill.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Place the stuffed shells in the dish and cover them with the remaining marinara sauce.
- If desired, sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top for extra cheesiness.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes to develop the flavors.
- After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the dish cool slightly before serving to allow the flavors to settle.
Notes
For added flavor, consider incorporating sautéed vegetables into the filling, or using freshly grated cheese for a richer taste.
