Description

A delightful dish of crispy chicken pieces coated in a tangy sweet and sour sauce, perfect for family dinners and casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken breasts, cut into 1-2 inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar (for sauce)
  • 1/2 cup vinegar (rice or white)
  • 1/2 cup water (for sauce)
  • 3 Tbs ketchup
  • 1 Tbs cornstarch (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Combine the self-rising flour, cornstarch, salt, sugar, and water in a bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  3. Fry the chicken in preheated oil at 375°F for about 7-8 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Transfer the cooked chicken onto paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Combine sugar, vinegar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until boiling.
  6. Mix in ketchup and cornstarch, and continue cooking until the sauce thickens.
  7. Pour the sauce over the crispy chicken and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for maximum flavor. Let the batter rest for improved texture.
