Description

Delicious chicken drumsticks glazed with a savory-sweet soy sauce mixture, perfect for family gatherings and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • ½ cup soy sauce (regular or low-sodium)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1–2 tsp sriracha or chili paste (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional)
  • Sesame seeds & sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry using paper towels.
  2. Lightly season the chicken with salt, if desired.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger (if using), black pepper, and sriracha (if desired).
  4. Add the drumsticks to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Marinate for 20 minutes or refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
  7. Arrange the drumsticks on a foil-lined baking sheet or in a baking dish.
  8. Reserve any leftover marinade for later use.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  10. While baking, heat the reserved marinade in a small pot and bring it to a boil for 1-2 minutes.
  11. If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with water and add it to the boiling marinade, simmering until glossy.
  12. Brush the glaze over the drumsticks during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking.
  13. For extra caramelization, broil for 1-2 minutes.
  14. Brush with any remaining glaze before serving.
  15. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Consider using an instant-read thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption. Vary marinating time for enhanced flavor.
